Definition of Si Units

The modern form of the metric system is termed the International System of Units and it is abbreviated as SI Units. This metric system is the only one that is accepted in almost all the countries of the world. The SI units consist of seven base units which are named second, meter, kilogram, ampere, kelvin, mole, and candela.

A number of additional units are derived from these 7 base units and they are represented as the products of powers of the base units. This system has provided 22 derived units with the names as well as with symbols.
