Definition of Biochemistry



Biochemistry is the branch of science which deals with the study of all those chemicals reactions and processes that occur inside the body of living organisms. It is also termed biological chemistry and encompasses biology as well as chemistry and it closely linked to molecular biology.

 


The various structures present within the living systems, enzymes, and metabolism are being studied in biochemistry. It typically focuses on the biological molecules i.e., carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, etc., which are responsible for giving rise to the various processes within the living cells.
