Definition of Bodily Injury Liability

Bodily injury liability is a car insurance liability that you have to pay to compensate for the medical care and lost wages of the people hit by your car in a car accident. The liability arises in case of a car accident when damage happens to other drivers, passengers, and people walking on the road.

In the United States, everyone is required to have bodily liability insurance when driving on the road to cover any liability caused by car accidents. Mostly these insurance policies are in the shape of 25/50. This means that the insurance company will cover the medical expense for the treatment of a bodily injury and lost wages of one person up to $25,000. The $50,000 limit is for expense coverage of more than one person.
