Definition of Causal Research

Causal research is a research method that is used to find out the cause-and-effect relationship between two variables. Opposite to its counterpart research method i.e., a descriptive method that is broader in scope, causal research aims to find out which variables are responsible for the cause and which variable is the effect. After determining the cause-and-effect variables, this research method develops the relationship between these variables i.e., direct or indirect.

Casual research is conducted by bringing a change in the independent variable which creates an effect on the dependent variable. To get accurate outputs, certain outside factors are kept constant or controlled using statistical methods. For the researcher conducting causal research, it is very challenging for him to count all factors which might affect the variables.
