Definition of Chemical Equilibrium

Chemical equilibrium is referred to as such a state of a system in which there is no change in the concentration of the reactants and the products which is accompanied by time. Consequently, the system does not exhibit any change in the properties of the substances. The state of chemical equilibrium is achieved as soon as the rate with which the forward reaction is proceeding becomes equal to the rate of the reverse reaction.

If the concentration of the reactants and the products during the chemical equilibrium also remains the same, then this becomes the dynamic equilibrium. There are two types of chemical equilibrium i.e., homogenous and heterogeneous equilibrium.
