Definition of Cost Of Quality

Cost of quality is the cost that an organization incurs to prevent poor quality or to prevent internal or external failures related to a product or service. In other words, it is the cost of ensuring that the product or service will not fail when it goes out.

When a product is designed it involves the acquisition of a high level of product knowledge with all possible faults that the product manager wants to remove before the product is launched. All the costs to assure the quality and functionality of the product like testing, safety, etc are included in the cost of quality.
