Definition of Ethical Committee



According to Directive 2001/20/EC, the ethics panel is an independent body within the European Union member states, consisting of healthcare professionals and non-medical members within it who are responsible to protect the rights and safety of human beings according to national and international laws on whom medical experiments or research is being carried out.

 


This committee documents the trial methods and investigator involved in the clinical trial and inform the human subject and take their consent on it. Through this committee, the European Union planned to organized research ethics across Europe, which includes the time taken to conduct the trial and other such kinds of issues a committee should take into consideration.
