Definition of Global Positioning System

Global positioning system or GPS is the satellite system of global navigation that helps us in providing information like the location, velocity, and time. This system is available everywhere whether it is a car, a mobile phone, or a wristwatch. It generally helps us in reaching point B from point A.

The three components of this system include satellites that are present in space, ground control, and user equipment. The system has a constellation of 24 satellites that orbit around the Earth at the speed of 8,700 mph and are present 13,000 miles above the Earth.
