Definition of Horizontal Communication

In simple words, horizontal communication is one in which the communication flows at the same level of hierarchy among departments, units etc.

Horizontal communication is differentiated from vertical communication as in vertical communication the information flows from top to bottom or bottom to top from the seniors to juniors or from the juniors to seniors.

On the other hand, in horizontal communication, the people from the same designation or line of hierarchy communicate.
