Definition of Intramolecular Forces

The intramolecular force is that type of force that helps in the binding of those atoms that are responsible for making up the molecule. On the other hand, the forces that exist between the molecules are termed the intermolecular forces.

All the forms of chemical bonds come under the category of intramolecular forces. The intramolecular forces are very strong as compared to the intermolecular forces as they have to hold the atoms of a molecule together.

Examples of Intramolecular Forces:

There are three main intramolecular forces which are named the ionic bond, covalent bond, metallic bond. A coordinate covalent bond is also a form of intramolecular forces.
