Definition of Nuclide

The nuclide are those species that exist in an atom and they are distinguished by the atomic and mass numbers as well as by the energy state of the nucleus. The nuclides must not be confused with the isotopes which are characterized by different number of neutrons but same number of protons.

The nuclides are typically represented in the form of A/ZX where A is the mass number and Z is the atomic number. The nuclear isomers are also different nuclides as they are composed of same number of neutrons and protons in them but their energy content is different.
