Definition of Self Efficacy

Self-efficacy is the awareness of an individual about his skills and the capability to perform a certain task. Self-efficacy and self-esteem are different in the sense that self-efficacy is only related to a precise task. Understanding one’s self-efficacy for management is very important. This allows management to channelize the tasks in the right way to the right employee.

On an individual level, understanding of self-efficacy is key to proper utilization of individual personal resources like skills, behavior, or motivation to complete the task. This understanding also leads to personal and professional learning behavior where individuals tend to learn new tools, techniques, or leadership styles, etc.
