Definition of State Function

The state function is also named as the point function and it is that property whose value is independent of the path which is opted in order to reach a specific value. On the contrary, that property whose value is dependent upon the path is termed as the path function.

The state functions are independent of the mechanism that how the state was established rather it depends upon the temperature, pressure, type and the amount of the substance. These values are based on three things i.e., initial and final value and the property.
