Definition of Stoichiometry

The phenomenon by which the reactants and the products are calculated in a chemical reaction is termed stoichiometry. Stoichiometry is based on the law of conservation of mass and it states that the total mass of the reactants is equivalent to the total mass of the products hence, it determines the quantitative relationships between the reactants and products.

The stoichiometry generally establishes a ratio of positive integers. In other words, it can be said that if the mass of the reactants is known, then the mass of the products can be determined empirically.
