Definition of Triple Bond

A triple bond is a type of chemical bond that exists between the two atoms and there are three pairs of bonding electrons in it. A single bond is formed by the mutual sharing of two electrons between the two participating atoms.

The strength of the triple bond is greater than that of the double bond and of the double bond to that of the single bond. This happens due to the fact that the bond length becomes very short when three covalent bonds are formed. The alkynes are formed when there are triple bonds between the two carbon atoms.
