Definition of Vapor Pressure

The vapor pressure is such a pressure that is exerted by the vapors when they are in the state of equilibrium with the solid as well as the liquid form of matter of the same substance. Hence, it can be said that the substance, at this moment, is existing in all three phases of matter.

The vapor pressure is such a property that increases with the increase in the temperature and it measures the capability of a substance to convert into the state of vapors. The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which the vapor pressure becomes equal to the pressure that is being exerted by the surroundings on the liquid.
