Definition of Cladogram

A cladogram is a graph that represents the phylogenetic or the hypothetical relationship of the organisms belonging to different groups. This graph is basically used while analyzing the phylogenetics of the organisms and this analysis leads us to determine the evolutionary relationships between the organisms. The taxa are organized neatly in the form of rows and columns.

The cladograms are formed on the basis of the morphology of the organisms and their genetic material. The phylogenetic trees are built up by the help of these cladograms. There are different shapes and forms of cladograms. The branches present in the cladogram represents the hypothetical ancestors of the organisms.
