Definition of Continuous Traits

The continuous traits exhibit a wide range of gene expressions and the individuals belonging to the population differ by very small degrees. There is no all or none expression of the genes in the case of continuous traits.

These traits are generally controlled by the polygenes and their expression is influenced by environmental factors too. The continuous traits are also referred to as the quantitative traits due to the fact that they are given quantitative values when measured.

Example of Continuous Traits:

The height, weight, skin tone, blood pressure are examples of continuous traits.
