Definition of Localized Lone Pair

A localized lone pair is such a lone pair that is not taking part in the process of resonance. The concept of localized lone pair is explained in Lewis bonding theory. Normal behaviour is depicted by the localized lone pair or electrons as per this theory.

The pair of these localized electrons remain near to only one atom whereas the localized bond pair stay between the two atoms. The localized molecular orbitals are defined as those molecular orbitals which are present in a very confined spatial region of a molecule for example a particular bond pair or a lone pair on a specific atom.
