Definition of Proteome

The complete set of proteins is termed as a proteome. The proteins included in this set may or may not be expressed at a specific time by the genome, cell, tissue, or organism. The study of these proteins is known as the proteome.

The cellular proteome is stated as that set of proteins that are present in a certain type of cell under the defined environmental conditions i.e., stimulation by hormones. This term is also used in order to refer to proteins that exist in the subcellular biological systems. The existence of various sorts of cancers can be determined by the aid of proteomics.
